not credit. If you
have been paying close attention to the housing market, you are well aware of
tax credit extensions for first time and previous home-buyers (not for sure if they are still offering). Purchasing a home
is at an all time low, which means practically anyone can experience a slice of
the American dream. Not so fast, with less than perfect credit, buying a new
home may not be in the near future. Trying to purchase a home myself, I was
left overwhelmed and less than worthy due to my credit score- no one would even
consider my applications. Once, I even consulted a debt repair agency to
improve my score, but the bottom line is I would initially pay out more money
to resolve my accounts than needed.
Soon afterwards, I was
bombarded with pushy reps insisting their services for over a course of 2
weeks. Debt repair agents continually called my home with harassing scripts,
demanding my patronage, nearly forcing services upon me. Unfortunately, for
them I am not the type that just hangs up and forget about it. They soon learned,
I too, have a voice with selected adjectives- I choose not to mention. Needless
to say, they got the point. Now, that's getting results.
All jokes aside, I had to find a better route of achieving credit
worthiness, because clearly my previous choice had me in the wrong lane. My
first course of action- asking around, emailing friends, and speaking with
fellow members of my church. You would be surprised with what you find in
church (besides spiritual enlightenment). It is the home front of social networking.
Somebody always knows somebody, and if you attend a large congregation, you are
bound to find informational treasures. Well, I struck gold! After several
emails, a couple in real estate responded with directions to a NACA (Neighborhood
Assistance Corporation of America) workshop.
NACA mission: Provide a revolutionary housing program, which keeps
predatory lending sharks from taking advantage of potential buyers who desire
homeownership. Through empowerment, education, and responsibility, you can
successfully complete the program and become a homeowner.
As a non-profit community advocate and housing organization, NACA offers
the best mortgage with over $10 billion committed to its program. You actually
have an option of purchase: existing home single, multi-family, condominium or
co-op.
Purchase a home needing repairs and refinancing; homeowners with
predatory loans.
Once you attend a workshop, you will be given a booklet with beneficial
tools outlining everything needed to be a homeowner.
Eligibility is very simple:
1. Be in good standing as a member
2. No member of household can have ownership interest in another property
3. Occupy the home as long as you have the mortgage through NACA
4. Participate in at least 5 activities (a way of paying it forward)
The booklet is a blueprint to your homeownership future focusing on debt
management, payment history, qualifications and much more. The most interesting
aspect, concentrates on affordability. The analysis determines your financial
means towards purchasing a home, along with a payment manger to make sure the
home you are interested in, is one you can afford.
NACA covers an awful lot of information that is easy to follow, leading
up to the success in purchasing a new home. The program is a bit much to take
all in, but you have eager counselors available to assist you with all your
needs. Most of the counselors are NACA members, themselves so their very
familiar, as well as knowledgeable about the program. Believe me, this people
want you to succeed.
