First on my list, which may come as a shock; Cereal.
The grocery shelves are stocked with cereals loaded with sugars, colors and artificial flavorings. None are beneficial to maintaining a healthy diet. Being a fan of cereal and milk, I try to avoid the sugary pleasure and opt-in for a more healthier high fiber choices; Cheerios, Wheaties and Raisin Bran...and the occasional Shredded Wheat.
Another one of my 'go to' snacks are CHIPS!
Not all chips are bad, but majority pack a substantial amount of salt which can raise your blood pressure. Plain & baked chips are a better choice, not so much a healthier one....lesser of the two evils. Ones that cause the most damage are; nacho cheese, cheez curls, cheesy popcorns (basically yellow processed cheese powders). Stray away if you can and seek a better alternative, like fruit, I know its a hard "let go", but I want you to live long healthier lives.
Cupcakes, Cookies & Pies...Oh My!
I'm not gonna lie! All things sweet is my downfall. You could bribe me with a honey bun....lol. Just kidding, but I do have my weakness, So be careful not buy packaged items. Its best to bake them yourself. As you are more in control of the ingredients. Packaged cakes and snacks are loaded with sugars, sodium and trans fat that can lead to other serious health risk; diabetes, heart disease and obesity. Taking a moment to indulge is ok, just make sure all things are done in moderation.
Processed Meats
Who know what really goes into hotdogs and processed meats? I'm sure the stories told can make you think twice about throwing them in your cart. Rather it be true or not, processed meats are not the best choice of consumption. Instead of buying hotdog, cold cuts, deli meats opt in for a turkey burger or grilled chicken sandwich. Its more nutritious and with fewer chemicals.
Pizza Pizza
Like a big pizza pie...that's amore! Pizza is a staple for most households. They're easy to prepare or order. Although, store bought pizza's or heavily processed and loaded with ingredients found not to be healthy for you. Now, I'm not suggesting to end the affair with pizza, but it may be a good idea to make your own. There are a different ways to create a pie which can be used with a variety of breads, pre-made pie crust or buy dough from your favorite parlor, The toppings are endless.
Nugget, Ring or Patty
These are the worst in my opinion. Heavily processed and extremely salty. They may be good, but not good for you! I highly recommend to avoid eating processed nuggets, patties and rings of any meat and make your own. Baking is a more beneficial alternative to frying. Lightly seasoned bread crumbs on fish or chicken will taste just as delicious.
Please note. All foods should be taken in moderation. A healthier you is a better you. Chew Responsibly!
