As a registered voter, I want to make the best possible choice in electing a qualified, worthy candidate. Whether it be democratic or republican, as citizens we deserve the right person for the job. Carefully viewing and listening to how tax dollars are spent, restoring communities, education and so forth, relying on the basis they are entirely capable of performing the task at hand. Throughout the campaign, raised funds are spent on trying to prove in capabilities, disqualifications and how undeserving the opponent is of our votes, but with remarks like "if it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut the whole thing down.", ( Eligon, John and Michael Schwirtz , August 18, 2012 "Senate Candidates Provokes Ire with 'Legitimate Rape' Comment"
places candidates in front of a political firing squad.
How offensive and disrespecting to millions of women everywhere.
Personally, I would like to sit down with Senate candidate Rep. Todd Atkins and ask him "what the hell was he thinking?', when he formed those words to spew from his mouth. More importantly, how does his wife, Lulli feel about this comment? At some point you have to step out from behind your man and speak out and up. But this isn't about her, nor does she deserve to be ridiculed along side her spouses' ignorant, selfish, and uneducated biased remarks. My next question is directed towards the doctor that has scientific data reflecting the differences between "rape sperm" and consensual sex sperm?
Due to my understanding any fluid leaving a mans penis that is penetrating a vagina will react in the same manner. Now,I understand the body can reject a pregnancy due to emotional stress or high levels of trauma, including rape. The mind knows its being raped, but not necessarily the body. The body will still produce natural lubrication to support friction. However, the psychic and emotional stress from being rapped can cause a miscarriage, but thats not always the case. Women still conceive after the act. Due to recent study by the Justice Dept, Nat. Crime Victim, report about 1 or 2 in 1000 result in pregnancy after rape. Translating to about 170 to 340 assaulted rape pregnancies a year in the U.S. (Abortionfacts.com,) That's not counting the unreported incidents or offenses around the globe. So calling this a rarity is a fallacy. The odds of winning the Missouri Powerball lottery is a rarity.
His remarks makes my skin crawl. In my opinion there is no such thing as a "legitimate rape". No means no! He can't apologize enough or fund a campaign "band-aid" to heal the gaping wound felt by thousands of rape victims. Seriously outraged by his comment, I wouldn't trust him to run a mile, let alone the state of Missouri. He and others may support his political enemas, but as for me, if he had an inkling of a chance of winning, he just killed it in my book.
