Walking towards peace of mind and relieving stress.
We walk around everyday to get from here to there without it giving a second thought. But walking is very beneficial and can help prevent certain crucial health risk and diseases; stroke, cancer and diabetes...for a better well-being. Enhancing your walkabilty is a great way to introduce fun and relaxation into your everyday routine. Before and mechanical inventions to travel where ever made...the mode of transportation was by foot. And I'm pretty sure there weren't any angered road rage-rs. Most popular complaint; foot-ache. Nonetheless, they probably were a lot less stressed.
Walking as part of everyday travel is as effective as a complete workout for improving physical health. It has been known to lower stress levels successfully verses people who work out regularly. Reduce stress a few paces a day by taking advantage of opportunities you normally don't utilize daily; parking further from an entrance, walk to your local store, on breaks walk the perimeter or the lot, frequent the zoo or parks...etc. Aside from the obvious reasons, you get to explore the great outdoors and increase the possibility of meeting new people.
Taking care of our bodies, mind and spirit begins basically by placing one foot in front of the other.Who knew something so simple could be dramatically beneficial?
There are several other easy ways to help reduce stress;
Smiling- it just places you in a better mood. A good conversation with friends and a cup coffee is sure to keep you grinning from ear to ear.
Hug- a simple embrace lets you know there is someone to lean on.
Vent it out- It's okay to talk to someone about your issues.It's reassuring to have an ear that is willing to listen rather than give advice. Don't keep it bottled up. This can result in a 'Katy Kaboom'! The main goal is to release tension before the valve explodes under pressure.
Learn to back off- Choose your battles and live to fight another day. You can't control others, but you're responsible for actions. Some situations are just out of your control. Who needs unnecessary stress? Relax. Peace be still.
Get moving- go outside, dance..whatever gets you to avoid a mental meltdown.
Breathe- take deep breathes and try to redirect your thoughts on happier times. Practice mediation. It promotes better breathing techniques- designed for these type of situations.
Pleasurable moments- alone or with someone special. This is more like killing two birds with on stone. Sex and sleep. See you're are already begun reducing stress...I'm sure that made you smile. :)
