The Battle from Within...Foods that Help Fight Breast Cancer

You may wonder about breast cancer fighting foods. One way to help fight against breast cancer is by eating the right foods. Foods that fight cancer are packed with important nutrients that really help prevent or fight the disease. Cancer is a terrible disease which affects us in one form or another. I hope we continually raise awareness & provide information which will help us live longer and healthier lives.

Eat More Fish
Fatty fish like tuna and salmon contain two main nutrients that help against breast cancer. First, these fish are high in omega-3s. Omega-3s are known for decreasing tumor growth and boosting the immune system. These fish are also a great source of vitamin D, which has been shown to reduce the risk of breast cancer. Try to eat 2 to 3 servings of fish each week.

Hold the Coffee...Green Tea Please

The amazing antioxidant in green tea makes it a perfect breast cancer fighting food. If you want to lower your risk of breast cancer and ovarian cancer, trade in your coffee for green tea. Studies show that 3 to 4 servings of green tea may decrease your risk of breast cancer. Green tea is also known to boost metabolism. Have you already added green tea to your diet? I like to drink mine warm with a little bit of honey.

More Veggies
Vegetables are fantastic cancer fighting foods. Cruciferous veggies include broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and kale. These are wonderfully nutritious veggies, packed with special compounds that make it hard for breast cancer cells to grow. For the best results, try to eat these cruciferous vegetables raw. Many of these veggies are great for dipping.

Not Just Good for the Heart...
More and more studies are showing how beans and lentils can really help lower a person’s risk of cancer. They are loaded with all the right antioxidants and fibers to fight breast cancer. Try to add beans to your regular diet. They make a great addition to many recipes and side dishes, but they're also delicious and nutritious on their own.

Oatmeal...Simply Wonderful
I’m sure by now you know how wonderful oatmeal is for your health. It is known to lower cholesterol, boost the immune system, and fight against diabetes. In case you needed one more reason to start your mornings off with a yummy bowl of oatmeal, studies now show oatmeal can be a key breast cancer fighting food. This is because diets rich in fiber coming from whole grains, such as oatmeal, protect against breast cancer.

Fruits and Nuts

Just like the other breast cancer fighting foods, most fruits are filled with good antioxidants. Eat fruits that are rich in color, like strawberries, oranges, red grapes, and blueberries. Walnuts are another breast cancer fighting food. They are a great snack to keep on hand and now we know they may help against breast cancer. Don’t hesitate to add walnuts to your regular diet. Studies show that for the best results, you should try to eat 2 ounces of walnuts every day.

Most of these are very simple to add into your daily diet. You can add fish to the menu a few times a week, trade red meat for beans, have oatmeal with walnuts and fruit for breakfast and snack on veggies throughout the day. It’s these small simple changes that can give you the lead in your fight against breast cancer. Celebrate Pink!
