The Great Powers of Touch

The many benefits of touch are therapeutic. Simple small circular strokes to provoke sensations that heighten the senses or deep tissue massages to relieve stress we carry in our shoulders, back and feet. Oooooh, how I love a being touched! Therapeutic massage has been around for many years and has been shown to be a very effective method. Evidence has proven a certain form of massage (reflexology) was practiced in India & Egypt. So for thousands of years people have been relishing in the warm wonders of touch. Here are more ways to be enlightened with touch (massage).

Massaging can treat a variety of health conditions. One of the most beneficial is circulation. From head to toe the blood pumps oxygen & nutrients into vital organs & tissue. Tending to sore muscle after working out is relaxing and eases tension. However, it may not cure all ailments, its a positive step in alleviating symptoms which help aid in your overall health.

Pampering yourself is fine. But what about starting at the bottom- your feet. We carry our weight on our feet, jam them into shoes that are uncomfortable or neglect them altogether. Reward yourself frequently with a soothing foot massage. Reduce high stress levels and clear your mind as well.

Leading busy lives we barely have time to pay attention our needs. But we must take a time out and relax. Relaxing is essential property in calming our bodies down so we can gather our thoughts and of course breathe. A short session is perfect for this. All is needed is to stay put long enough to enjoy the further investment in your health.

There is no denying massage therapy is a powerful ally. It promotes a sense of clarity and balance. Massaging is a holistic treatment that works to re-establish balance in the body. It focuses on all parts of the body as it works together as a whole. Rather than isolating parts of the body as some conventional methods of medicine do. Attending a spa treatment or therapy session can help increase recovery in injuries.

Even if you don't have any specific health problems, it can help you feel less stressed, sleep better, and feel more relaxed. The power of massage has profound effects and have been known to show tremendous benefits through touch;
enhance immunity
improve concentration
increase joint flexibility
decrease anxiety
lower blood pressure & stress hormones
increase stimulation & arousal (depending on what part being touched)

Any benefit you get from having a massage isn't just a question of convincing yourself will it work - try it to be amazed at the health benefits! The results are phenomenal. Massage is a great alternative to conventional medicines, but it's not a cure for all aliments. Its an impressive compliment to reduce areas of stress, fatigue, stiffness & other minor issues. Getting a massage can do the body, mind and spirit some good. Schedule a "time-out" often to reap the rewards. Self-care is important and investing time to pamper yourself in a spa or at home can make your healthier and have a more youthful glow for years to come.
